EASTERN ARIZONA EVENTS

From Gail Wilde 5:15pm Sep 2

I just want to Thank everyone from the bottom of my heart, for supporting the singles program in the White Mountain area. Without your support, we would not have the success we have had. Being a singles representative is a daunting task, especially when you feel that you have no support. But as the Taylor Rep, I have to tell you all, how appreciative I am to you all. It is not me working hard to create a singles program, it is you singles saving me. I thank my Heavenly Father for giving me this calling, to keep me on the path he wants me on! I love you all!

Get a Testimony of
what the Prophets have said!

Do you know
what the Prophet Says?

“Help others in their race of life.
Remember that when you help another up a mountain,
you are a little nearer the top yourself.” -Thomas S. Monson
(Full talk: http://bit.ly/MmGIyN)

My brothers and sisters, in this marvelous dispensation of the fulness of times, as we journey through mortality and face the trials and challenges of the future, may we remember the examples of these models to follow. May we have the unfeigned humility of John the Baptist, the unquestioning obedience of Abraham, the unlimited patience of Job, the unwavering faith of Noah, the undeviating loyalty of Ruth, the unflagging determination of Nephi, the undaunted courage of the Prophet Joseph Smith, and the unfailing optimism of President Hinckley. Such will be as a fortress of strength to us throughout our lives.

May we ever be guided by the supreme Exemplar, even the son of Mary, the Savior Jesus Christ—whose very life provided a perfect model for us to follow.

The unique qualities possessed by these men and women whom I have mentioned can be of invaluable assistance to us as we face the problems and the trials which lie ahead.

... and the readiness for inspiration of President Monson!

Sapporo Temple

Coming Soon!
The Sapporo Temple
Consdtruction has Started!!!
Sapporo Temple 3D Video

Construction Status
As of March 2015, stone cladding has been attached to the exterior of the Sapporo Japan Temple, and framework has been installed for the base of the tower. Inside, the interior walls are being framed and mechanical and electrical systems installed. Construction continues simultaneously on a mission office and residence, temple worker housing facility, temple patron housing facility, and arrival center.
On May 28, 2014, Elder D. Todd Christofferson of the Quorum of the Twelve, and his wife Katherine, visited the construction site of the Sapporo Japan Temple (read the newsletter) on an unusually beautiful afternoon with other local Church authorities. The visitors were shown the on-site mock-up, which is a temporary structure erected to help both workers and neighbors the materials and techniques used to build the temple and its supporting buildings. They viewed the progress of the various buildings with satisfaction.

Completion:
anticipated to be completed in 2014 (awaiting official announcement)

The Sapporo Japan Temple will be the eighth temple building in Asia and the third built in Japan, following the Tokyo Japan Temple (1980) and the Fukuoka Japan Temple (2000).

Tucson Temple

Tucson Temple

Announcement: 6 October 2012

Construction Status
Okland Construction has been selected as the general contractor for the Tucson Arizona Temple, which is currently in the construction approval phase. No groundbreaking date has been announced.

Construction Approval

In February 2013, a Church project manager submitted preliminary plans to Pima County to propose making Church-owned property in the Catalina Foothills, where East Ina Road curves into Skyline Drive, the site for the Tucson Arizona Temple. The 7-acre site was purchased by the Church in 2010, and a residence to the north was subsequently acquired. As yet, no official site location nor official rendering has been announced by the Church. A Church spokesman indicates that at least two other sites have been under consideration, but only the Pima County planning agency has actually received a proposal for the temple.

The documents include surveys and environmental studies plus site and floor plans that use a rendering of a two-story, 34,000-square-foot mission-style temple, similar to the design for the Tijuana México Temple, to represent the Tucson Arizona Temple. The site would have a 260-space parking lot with large areas of natural desert open space to provide a buffer for the surrounding neighborhood. No rezoning would be required for the site, as it is already zoned to allow religious buildings, but a height variance may be required from the Board of Adjustments to permit the 95-foot steeple.

The Shadow Roc Homeowners Association, the neighborhood where the proposed site is located, previously opposed an office development at that location. But association president, Stan Kartchner, himself a member of the Church, responded favorably to the temple plans. He indicated that a temple is "one of the more favorable uses we could imagine" for the property. He expressed his desire for Church representatives to open a dialogue with neighbors as the plans progress.1
